G8 Basketball (feat. NBA)

Our school had three athletic seasons. Among the three, the Spring season had basketball. For three months, we had basketball jamborees with other international schools like SIS, SFS, YISS, and so on. Every Tuesday and Thursday, we had to stay after school for practices. Every Saturday, we had to either go to other schools or my school to play basketball competitions. To be honest, our team kept losing. For the first few games, our team even lost with a gap of 20 points. Everybody became annoyed and started blaming each other, but after Kim, Lee, and I started encouraging our teammates that we can score more goals if we pass more balls and make fewer mistakes. Gradually, our team started to rely and trust on each other. With a better relationship between teammates and countless practices(we practiced even when it wasn't practice time like lunchtime). As a result, at the end of the season, our team actually started gaining victory over the teams we lost to at the beginning of the season, and even when we lost, the score gap wasn't big and we didn't blame each other anymore. In our last few games, we actually became a team. I thought that we would've been much better if we had more time to practice. That was when I started dreaming of getting into Junior Varsity because in JV we would practice for months and maybe years, so I thought that JV would be perfect for me to achieve the dream of perfect teamwork.

My love for basketball gained fire after when I saw NBA. Our school sent us to a trip to Palos Verdes in California, and we saw the Clippers vs Suns game. Seeing a real basketball game, even an NBA game, made me imaging myself in my school uniform, playing basketball with my teammates.

It is summer break before I go to Grade 9, and I have been learning and practicing basketball during the break. I really hope I can get into Junior Varsity. I guess I'll figure out in several months!
